Who we are

Connected Contractors is a trading name of UK Connected Contractors Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 15512083), based in Shifnal, Shropshire. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described here.

What we collect

• Enquiry details — your name, phone number, email address, the type of job and anything you tell us about it, when you use our contact form, call, email, WhatsApp or message us on Instagram.
• Job details — if we quote for or carry out work, the property address, access arrangements, photos of the work, and the information needed for invoices, electrical certificates and building control notifications.
• Website usage — only if you accept analytics cookies: anonymous information about how the site is used, such as the pages viewed, device type and rough location (see Cookies below).

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing unless you've asked us to keep in touch.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote — because you've asked us to (steps before entering a contract).
• To carry out and invoice the work — to perform our contract with you.
• To issue certificates, notify building control and keep tax records — because the law requires it (for example, electrical installation certificates under our NAPIT registration, and HMRC record-keeping).
• To show photos of finished work in our gallery or on Instagram — only with your agreement, and never showing your address or anything that identifies you.
• To understand how the website is used — only with your consent, via the cookie banner.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the business. They only process your information on our instructions:

• FormSubmit — delivers contact form enquiries to our email inbox.
• Our quoting system (hosted on Railway) — stores enquiries so we can prepare your quote.
• Netlify — hosts this website.
• Google — Google Analytics (only if you accept cookies) and Google Fonts, which loads the site's typefaces and receives your IP address in doing so.
• Our accountant, NAPIT and local authority building control — where needed for tax, certification or notification of the work.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US Data Bridge.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to a job: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Customer, quote and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as HMRC requires.
• Electrical certificates and job records: for as long as we need them to meet our certification and warranty obligations.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or move it to someone else. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Just email or call us, and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
